American Rescue Plan to impact Butler County
President Biden signed a $1.9 trillion rescue plan into act this month. Alabama will receive $4.043 billion in aid.
The money is provided to state and local governments to help with shortfalls due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The U.S. Treasury will outline spending parameters, but it is expected that public officials will have the ability to spend the money where needed and replace budget and revenue losses.
Butler County is allocated $3.77 million, Greenville will receive $1.37 million, Georgiana $30,000, and McKenzie $9000.
City officials that responded to inquiries have not made any plans as to where the funds will be spent in their respective areas.
