- Mrs.W.H. Lowery returned from Rome, GA where she was the holiday guest of the Rev. and MRs. Robert A. Beeland III and children.
- Misses Kappy Eyster and Lila Pryor, of Decatur, were weekend guests of Miss Jennie Plummer and attended the Galloway-Stabler wedding
- We don’t know if it was a Christmas present or not but we didn’t see it until this week but Curtis Williamson is driving a different car a red Nova Chevrolet
- Mrs.Nettie Beverly spent the weekend with her sister Mrs. Willie Braden
- Judge and Mrs. Arthur Gamble and Miss Jeanie Gamble spent the new year’s weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Peacock in St Petersburg, Florida
- The red bloom tree at Mrs. Phillips erroneously named to a Red Wood has been correctly identified by Mrs.Oakley McFerrin as a early-blooming red Japanese cherry tree. There’s another cherry tree blooming at the Howard Haygoods and this week some early extra early blooms have been spotted
- There were quite a few disappointed people glued to the tube watching bowl games and we hope they enjoyed their black eyed peas and hog jowl more than the ballgames
