Traffic stop turns into car chase for Greenville Police

A traffic stop by Greenville Police turned into car chase that lasted several blocks Sunday

According to reports, a Greenville Police officer tried to stop a black Dodge Charger playing loud and excessive music while traveling on South Street.

When then the officer attempted to make the stop the vehicle speed off.

The officer pursued for several blocks until the vehicle turned to the parking lot of a business on Oliver Street.

The vehicle grounded on the railroad tracks.

This gave officers enough time to arrest the suspect and remove the vehicle from the tracks.

A search conducted found marijuana and ecstasy in the vehicle.

Fredrick Palmer, 41, was arrested for possession and reckless endangerment.

The vehicle’s passenger had outstanding warrants with the Butler County Sheriff’s Office as well.

Chief Lovvorn praised the officers’ actions in apprehending the dangerous individual and keeping others safe.

He said, “We will strictly enforce the law. Do not run from the police for fear of your life or harming others.”
