Triple-murder suspect Deandra Marquis Lee will be in court next week, though it will be for bond issues, and not the murder charges handed down earlier this week.

District Attorney Charlotte Tesmer said that a bond revocation hearing is set for Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.

“He was out on a $10,000 bond for robbery, and we filed a motion to revoke that,” she said.

Lee was arrested and booked in Lowndes County on Feb. 9 for charges of third-degree robbery before being released on bond.

Lee is currently being held in the Lowndes County Jail on a $3 million bond for three counts of murder after he was captured last week and charged with killing 9-year-old twins Jordan and Taylor Dejerinett and 73-year-old Jack Mac Girdner.

Tesmer also said that there is the possibility of upgrading those charges to capital murder through provisions in state law, but a capital murder charge is not handed out just because one of those criteria is met.

“It’s not automatic,” she said. “The grand jury can, and most likely will, be offered that opportunity under varying reasons like age or kidnapping.”

Alabama law allows for a charge of capital murder if two or more people are murdered in one act or if the victim is under 14 years of age.

“The judge said that if and when it becomes capital, he will have no bond,” Tesmer said.
