Hill Henderson Wood Sr., age 92, a lifelong resident of Butler County, died Friday, February 5,2010 at his residence . Funeral services were held Sunday, February 7,2010 at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Harrison Funeral Home with Reverends Hugh Sikes and Kenny Horn officiating. Interment followed in Magnolia Cemetery with Harrison Funeral Home directing . A visitation was held on Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Wood was a member of Gravel Hill Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ and was baptized in the 1970`s. He enjoyed hunting , fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and many friends.
Mr. Wood was preceded in death by his wife , Ola Mae Blackmon Wood, son, Glin Wood, great-grandchild Christina Harris, brother, Sam Wood and sisters, Cora Braden and Mamie Clark.
He is survived by four sons, Charlie ( Sara ) Wood , Opelika; Douglas ( Brenda ) Wood , Greenville; Hill ( Peggy ) Wood, Jr. Honoraville and
Ronald Wood, Greenville; two sisters, Mary Odom, Eufaula; Myrtle Blackmon, Greenville; 12 grandchildren , 19 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews and many other relatives.
