The Greenville Academy boys' basketball team dropped to 0-4 on the season after a 70-32 loss to Wilcox Academy last Tuesday night.
Wilcox came out of the gate with a big lead at the start of the game.
GA varsity coach Steve Whittington said the team was outmanned.
"Wilcox has a great team and they hurt us with their quickness," Whittington said.
The coach said their guards
did most of the damage.
"Their point guard had 20 points," he said. "Both of their guards played excellent basketball."
The Tornados' leading scorers were Josh Beverly and Al Gentrey with seven points each. Issac Ward had four defensive rebounds and three offensive rebounds in the game.
Whittington said the team will work on blocking out for rebounding along with the press defense.
"We have a lack of height on the team and that hurt us against Wilcox," he said. "We'll have to try to improve in every game in order to get better."
GA will face Cottage Hill in Mobile today at 1 p.m.
"They have a great team," he said. "They might be the best team we'll play all season."
Whittington said playing the best teams will help the team get better and that they know what they need to work on.
