The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce recently awarded two deserving seniors with a $500 scholarship.
It marks the third consecutive year that the Chamber of Commerce has awarded a scholarship to a Chamber Page and Camellia Girl.
Tedric Williams and Barrett Leverette were chosen to receive the scholarships.
“We started (the scholarship) to recognize our senior Camellia Girls and Chamber Pages because they do such good work all year long,” Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Francine Wasden said.
Chamber Pages and Camellia Girls have the opportunity to start working in the 10th grade and can continue through the 12th grade.
The two recipients were required to write an essay that was judged by the Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors. The two were also selected based on hours of service to the Chamber, as well as hours of community service.
“We get attached to them and they work hard,” Wasden said of the Chamber Pages and Camellia Girls. “They were there every time we needed them.”
