A late-night pizza craving led to a Greenville man being charged with robbery.

Dangelo Laquez Brown, 23, was arrested and charged with first-degree robbery on Thursday night after he allegedly robbed a Papa John’s Pizza delivery person at gunpoint at approximately 9:15 p.m.

According to Lt. Justin Lovvorn, Brown approached the Papa John’s employee as he was delivering the pizza to a residence on Walnut Street.

“He had what appeared to be a sawed-off shotgun and was pointing it at the delivery person,” Lovvorn said. “He ordered the delivery person to pull out his wallet and drop it on the ground and to drop the pizza he was delivering. Then he made him run up the street.”

Authorities say that Brown then collected the wallet and the pizza and ran in the opposite direction.

After interviewing several people in the area, officers received permission to search a house on East Commerce Street.

“We were able to locate the pizza in a house on East Commerce Street,” Lovvorn said. “From there we got information about where our suspect might be hiding.”

Brown was eventually located at a house on Walnut Street approximately a block from where the robbery occurred.

In an unrelated case, officers arrested William Lancaster, 45, for burglary, third degree, and theft of property, third degree.

According to authorities, Lancaster forced his way into an unoccupied residence on Woodvalley Road on May 17 and stole several items.

He was arrested on May 18.
