The Orioles tried to do something no other team in the Dixie Youth League has done yet this yearbeat the league-leading Tigers.

The Orioles entered the game in second place; however, the Tigers proved worthy of their top spot as they stood on the shoulders of Adam Moore's pitching to earn a 5-1 win.

After the Tigers held the O's scoreless in the top of the first their leadoff batter, Josh Womack, earned a walk. With one out Moore put two runners on base with the second walk of the inning. David Moore earned an RBI with a groundball later in the inning to score Womack and give the Tigers a 1-0 lead.

The Orioles were unable to get anything going in the top of the second as Moore struck out the side.

The Tigers led off their half of the second with consecutive walks to Eric Howard and Jake Newton. A groundball by Ben Callen was mishandled by the Oriole defense which allowed Howard to score. With two on, Victor Stansberry drove Newton and Callen home with a single to make the score, 4-0.

Womack began the third inning just like the firstwith a walk. He scored on an RBI single by A. Moore, giving the Tigers a 5-0 lead.

The Orioles got on the board in the top of the fourth as Conyers Poole lined a one-out single. He came around to score on an error off the bat of Zack McCann.

The two teams played good defense through the rest of the game as neither team was able to bring any more runs across.

A. Moore earned the victory for the Tigers. He finished the game with 15 strikeouts.

Diamondbacks 10, Reds 4

The Diamondbacks entered last week looking to make up some ground and get back into the league race while the Reds were looking for the first win of the season.

The game was close until midway through when the D'backs began to pull away enroute to a 10-4 victory.

The Reds helped the D'backs get off to a good start as the first batter of the game, Steven Tilley, reached on an error and then went to third on consecutive wild pitches. He scored on a groundball by Scott Varner to give the Diamondbacks a 1-0 lead.

The lead was shortlived as the Reds came back in the bottom of the inning.With one out, Demonte Crenshaw, Justin Hester and John David Wallace earned consecutive walks to load the bases. Dalton Gregory earned an RBI with the fourth walk of the inning by the D'backs. A groundball by Will Bowman drove in the Reds second run to give them a 2-1 lead.

The D'backs tied the game in the top of the second as Andrew Phelps led off the inning with a walk. He scored later in the inning on a two-out grounder that was misplayed by the Reds' defense to tie the game at 2-2.

Again, the Reds came back with a run. Chad Black led off the inning with a walk. McDonald Russell and Stephen Butts also got free passes to load the bases. Another error cost the Reds the lead as a grounder by Jonathan Varnar was misplayed, allowing Black to score, giving the Reds a 3-2 edge.

But, the D'backs had the first big inning of the game in the top of the third. Rolondon Purify, Tilley and Varnar earned walks to lead off the inning and load the bases. A double by Lynn Lewis scored two runners and gave the D'backs their first lead of the game. Mika Jones did the rest of the damage with another double that scored Varnar and Lewis and gave the Diamondbacks a 6-3 lead.

The Reds answered in the bottom of the third with a run of their own. With two outs, Wallace reached on an error. Dalton Gregory followed by reaching on the second error of the inning and then Bowman was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Clay Milton came through with a walk to score Wallace and cut the lead to 6-4.

The D'backs got the run back in the top of the fourth as Antonio Smith led off with a triple and later scored on a groundball.

In the fifth inning, the D'backs increased their lead as Tilley, Lewis and Ben Coker scored to make the score 10-4.

The Reds were unable to score through the final two innings.

Lewis earned the win for the D'backs, striking out eight batters.

Tigers 21, D'backs 0

The Tigers continued their domination of the Dixie Youth League with an impressive win over the D'backs, 23-1.

Josh Womack led off the game with a walk and Caleb Blackburn followed with a single. Adam Moore hit a grounder that was misplayed by the defense, allowing Womack to score.

With two on, David Moore cleaned the bases with a homerun to left-center field. Eric Howard scored another run on a basehit by Ben Callen to give the Tigers a 5-0 lead.

They added two more runs in the second when D. Moore hit his second homerun in as many innings with Demaria Abrams and A. Moore on base to increase the lead to 9-0.

Callen earned an RBI in the third with a single that scored Howard to make the score 10-0.

But, it was in the fourth inning that the Tigers explodedscoring 13 runs. Every member of the team scored once and Blackburn came around twice. Jake Newton had the biggest hit of the inning as he belted a three-run triple.

The Reds put one on the board in the fourth as Lynne Lewis was allowed to come home on an error.

A. Moore earned the win for the Tigers, striking out seven in four innings.

Braves 7, Orioles 6

The game of the week came as the second and third place teams squared off. This time the third-place Braves scored a one-point win over the second-place Orioles who came up one run short in a last-inning rally, 7-6.

Brady Newton got the Braves on the board first as he hit a double and was driven home by Michael McDonald for a 1-0 lead.

The Orioles led off the bottom of the first with a walk by Conyers Poole. He tied the game at one on an error off the bat of Reco Johnson.

Pitching dominated the second inning as neither team scored.

The Braves took the lead again in the third. With one out, Justin Bozeman lined a single and Newton followed with a double. McDonald added two more RBIs to his total with a triple. He also scored on a triple by Tyler Newton to give the Braves a 4-1 lead.

The score remained the same until the bottom of the fourth when the Orioles came back to tie the game. Reco Johnson and Will Farrar earned consecutive walks with one out in the inning. Blake Conway brought the team back with one swing as he lined a homerun to centerfield.

McDonald did one better for the Braves in the fifth inning as he hit a homerun with two men on to put the Braves back on top, 7-4.

The scored remained the same until the final at-bat when the Orioles began to rally. Donovan Gulley led off the inning with a single and Conyers Poole followed with a walk. But, the next two batters

struckout before Will Farrar brought the O's within one with a single that brought in the two runners.

But, Braves' pitcher Newton struck out the final batter to leave the tying run on base.

Newton earned the victory and struck out 13 batters.

Golson was given the loss for the O's and struck out ten batters.
