A teacher at the Butler County Magnet School has been suspended without pay by the Butler County Board of Education.
Yvonne Gulley, a kindergarten teacher at the school, was given six days’ suspension, three days for insubordination and three days for neglect of duty.
When the matter was first brought before the board last Thursday, there was no second for the motion regarding the proposed suspension. Following an executive session later in the meeting, the proposal was again brought before the board and was seconded and passed.
According to Superintendent Mike Looney, Gulley “didn’t perform her duties as I would expect her to do.”
“We have high expectations of our faculty and staff and when they fail to meet these expectations, we have to take action,” Looney said.
Attempts to reach Ms. Gulley for comment were unsuccessful.
