Gary Martin takes a video of Fort Dale Academy eighth-grader Stephen Hartley on Thursday at the FDA Wax Museum. Hartley was dressed as Wilbur the pig from E. B. White’s Charlotte’s Web. The Wax Museum is put on by the eighth grade literature class. The students choose an author or poet they have studied during the last two years. They then research the writer and write a two-page paper on their subject. The students then dress as their author or one the characters from the writer’s works. They also create a red button to “activate” their character in the Wax Museum. They are graded on the papers, the speeches they deliver at the Wax Museum, creativity and performance. FDA has been hosting the Wax Museum for eight years.
