Starting with their grudge-match against Hillcrest, the Tigers won three of the last four games.

Greenville hosted Hillcrest-Evergreen on Jan. 23, and sent the Jaguars back home defeated, with a final score of 63-59.

Hillcrest showed some strength during the first half of the game, by scoring 17 points in the first period and 19 in the second. Greenville scored 11 in the first and 16 in the second, to make the score at halftime Hillcrest 36, Greenville 27.

Hillcrest held the lead in the third when they scored 14 points, but the Tigers were closing in on them, and after three were only behind by three points, 50-47.

In the last period, a combination of speed and determination let the Tigers pass, and defend their lead against the Jaguars.

The final score was Greenville 63, Hillcrest-Evergreen 59.

Tyrone Davison led the Tigers' scoring with 19 points to his credit. Joshua Smith and Sam Williamson were next in scoring, with 12 points each.

Smith made three three-pointers, and Williamson went four for five on free throws.

Hillcrest's leading scorer was Gerald Danzy, with 16 points.

The following Friday, Greenville hosted the Panthers of Georgiana High School, and when it was over, the Tigers had won by a score of 83-60.

Greenville dominated in three of the four periods. In the first period, Sam Williamson went five for eight on free-throw attempts, and the Tigers raked in 26 points, to Georgiana's 14.

In the second, Greenville scored 19 points, to Georgiana's 15, to make the score at the halftime break Greenville Tigers 45, Georgiana Panthers 29.

Coming back from the break, Greenville again dominated the game with 25 points, to the 12 that the Panthers chalked-up and the score was Greenville 70, Georgiana 41 after three.

In the last period, Georgiana was dominant, as Greenville only played two of its starters, and the Panthers were able to score 19 points to Greenville's 13.

That made the final score of the game Greenville 83, Georgiana 60.

Top scorer for the Tigers was Carlos Blackmon with 14 points, followed by Tyrone Davison and Marlon Powell, who each scored 10 points.

For the Panthers, Michael McClain was the showstopper, making 14 points, including four three-pointers. Lenardus Johnson followed him with 13, and Marquis Johnson with 11. Lenardus averaged 50-precent on free throws, making four of eight. Marquis went 75-percent, with three of four.

Then on Saturday, the Tigers were on the road to face rival Calhoun High School in Letohatchee, Tigers against Tigers.

Greenville came out on the short-end, with a final score of 93-65.

From the onset of the first jump shot, Greenville showed a deficit, and Calhoun held the lead through all four periods.

Greenville scored 14 to Calhoun's 26 in the first, and 15 to their 20 in the second, to make the halftime score Calhoun 46, Greenville 29.

Coming back after the break, the Greenville Tigers put 20 points on the board to Calhoun's 26, making the score after three 62-52 Calhoun.

In the fourth, Greenville scored 14, to the Calhoun Tigers' 21, making the final score Calhoun 93, Greenville 65.

Leading for the Greenville Tigers was Carlos Blackmon, with 16 points, followed by Marcus Briggs with 14 and Sam Williamson with 13.

Williamson went six for eight on free throws.

Then on Monday night Greenville traveled to Ozark to face hosting Carroll High School, and came home victorious, with a final score of 77-68.

The Tigers dominated nearly the whole game, and at the end of just the first period, were ahead of the Eagles by 10 points, with a one-period score of 24-14.

Then in the second, they scored 20 points to Carroll's 18, making the score at halftime Greenville Tigers 44, Carroll Eagles 32.

After the break, the Tigers came back out to let Carroll have one quarter, by scoring 12 to the Eagles' 14, and the score after three was Greenville 56, Carroll 46.

Then, determined to win, the Tigers scored 23 points to 19 of the Eagles, making the final score Greenville High School 77, Carroll High School of Ozark 68.

Sam Williamson had a phenomenal night, and was nearly untouchable by the Carroll defense, scoring 32 points to take top honors for the Tigers, going four for five on free throws.

Tyrone Davison was second for the night, with 17 points, including a three-pointer in the second period. Marlon Powell was next with eight points.

The Greenville Tigers will be on the road when they travel to Brantley on Thursday night, and then they return home on Monday to host the Flying Squadron of Highland Home.
