Dikki Du And The Zydeco Crew
will perform at 9 p.m. Friday at the Front Street Pub in downtown Greenville. Dikki DU (Troy Carrier), a thirty-one-year old native of Church Point, Louisiana, discovered his love for Zydeco music at the age of nine.
He would gather after school with his brother Chubby, his sister Elaine and his father Roy to play Zydeco music.
His father (Roy Carrier and the Night Rockers) would play accordion, Chubby was always on drums and troy played the washboard.
When he was twelve, the family moved to a little place called Lawtell where his father owns the Offshore Lounge, a gathering place for Zydeco musicians and dancers.
Soon after moving to Lawtell, Chubby started a second Carrier band (Chubby Carrier and the Bayou Swamp Band) and Troy became his drummer.
The band toured in many locations… East Coast, West Coast, Midwest, Belgium, Greece, Holland and Canada. Troy playedwith his brother and his father from the late 80's until the mid-90's.
During this time he also played with C. J. Chenier and the Red Hot Louisiana Band.
Troy wanted to move on to the accordion and picked up the Triple Note, learning from both Roy and Chubby. Now there is a third Carrier band, Dikki Du and the Zydeco Crew.
