Bulldogs shoot down Kinston, 47-12

The Brantley Bulldogs shot down Kinston last Friday night with an overwhelming 47-12 victory.
The Bulldogs (8-1) are region champs and will close out their regular season against the 3A Daleville War Hawks in Daleville this Friday.
Kinston started out last Friday’s game with a small bang as they drove 71 yards in 5 plays to be the first team to put points on the board. The two-point conversion failed, and Kinston led 6-0, a lead that didn’t last too long, however.
Brantley’s Teven Daniels scored on a four-yard run with 7:46 left in the first quarter; the PAT was missed, but the game was tied 6-6.
Brantley then drove 85 yards in nine plays before Derek Holley added the next Bulldog TD on a two-yard run up the middle with 16 seconds left in the first quarter. Quarterback Chase Hall was 6 for 6 in passing in this drive alone. The PAT was missed, but Brantley took the lead, 12-6.
Just seconds into the second quarter, Devonte Porter recovered a Kinston fumble, took the sweep around right end for 10 yards and a touchdown. The two-point conversion failed, but Brantley now led 18-6.
Before a whole minute could roll off the second quarter clock, Kinston had fumbled again, this time with Cassius Tillis recovering the fumble at the Kinston 18 yard line. On the next snap, Derek Holley went 18 yards up the middle for a touchdown. The pass for two points failed, but Brantley led 24-6.
With 6:25 left in the second quarter, Brantley went 65 yards in six plays, with a key play coming on a 40-yard pass from Chase Hall to Tillis. Zach Wiley added the next Bulldog TD on a one-yard run. The two-point conversion failed, but Brantley enjoyed a comfortable 30-6 lead.
Just three plays later, Kinston fumbled the ball away again, and Freeman Walker scooped it up at the Kinston 41 yard line. Chase Hall hit Adam Hill for a 41-yard TD with 4:49 left in the second quarter. Zeth Johnson’s PAT was good, and the Bulldogs went up 37-6.
Brantley’s Adam Hill kicked a 32-yard field goal on the last play of the first half to round out the scoring at 40-6.
The teams played 10-minute quarters during the second half, as Brantley wasted little time adding their final TD for the night.
The Bulldogs drove 65 yards in 8 plays leading up to Teven Daniels scoring on a five-yard run with 6:33 left in the third quarter. Zeth Johnson’s PAT was good, and Brantley enjoyed a 47-6 lead.
Kinston added one more score in the fourth quarter as Ludger Boswell ran in on a sweep around right end with 12 seconds left in the game. Kinston missed the PAT, bringing the final score to 47-12.
Chase Hall was 11-14 passing for 225 yards for the night, while Adam Hill had three interceptions for 75 yards. Devonte Porter had 3 receptions for 48 yards, and the leading rusher was Zach Johnson with 52 yards on 4 carries. Derek Holley had 45 yards on six carries and two TDs.
The Bulldogs travel to Daleville to face the 3A War Hawks Friday night. Game time is 7 p.m.
Brantley will host the first round of the Class 1A playoffs on Nov. 6.
