Luverne 8, Greenville 7

Greenville hosted Luverne in game five of the 13-year-old Dixie Boys sub-district tournament on Monday night, and after nine long innings, Luverne was the victor, eliminating Greenville from the tournament.

A leading scorer for Luverne was Pitcher Ryan Brown, with two runs. Brown walked in the first inning, and stole second base following an error by Greenville catcher Adam Moore.

Luverne shortstop Klein Jones also scored two runs, once in the first and once in the sixth inning.

Center fielder Shawn Nelson, third baseman Wesley Hall and right fielder D.J. McCreary also scored one run apiece.

Brown was credited as the winning pitcher.

For Greenville, first baseman Ben Coker topped the scoring, with a three run homer in the fifth inning. Coker also scored in the fourth.

Center fielder Justin Hester scored twice after walking in the second and hitting a single in the fifth.

Pitcher Brady Newton hit a two RBI double in the fifth. Catcher Adam Moore and Second baseman David Moore both scored runs after singles.

Newton was the losing pitcher.

Enterprise 22, Luverne 4

In the sixth and final game of the 13-year-old All-stars at the Greenville tournament, undefeated Enterprise was visitor to hosting Luverne, entering the game with one loss from their last pairing against Enterprise.

Enterprise was led by shortstop Randall Noble, Robert Brooks and first baseman Jay Martin, who each scored three runs, one from a double each.

Scoring twice for Enterprise was center fielder Alan Harvin, pitcher Davis Potter, left fielder John Smith and catcher Blake Dunaway.

Potter was credited with the victory for Enterprise.

For Luverne, catcher Ryan Brown led the scoring with a homer in the fifth, and a run following two stolen bases in the first.

Center fielder Shawn Nelson and left fielder Justin Jordan each scored one run. D.J. McCreary was the losing pitcher for Luverne.

Following the game, Enterprise was presented the first place trophy, and Luverne the second place trophy for the tournament by Gregg Fuller, assistant director of Greenville Parks and Recreation Department.

Enterprise Coach Tommy Dunaway was extremely proud of his team, speaking of how long they have played together.

"The majority of our team has played together since they were 10 years old," Dunaway said. "These boys have only lost four of their last 31 All-star games."
