Greenville Police Sergeant Kenny Parker seized 16 bags of marijuana November 16 during a drug bust on Crenshaw Street.
Annie Burnett, a 45-year-old black female, was arrested for third degree unlawful possession of a controlled substance, and 16 bags of marijuana were seized, according to Greenville Police Chief Lonzo Ingram.
"On November 16, about 5:30 in the afternoon, members of the Greenville Police Department executed a search warrant at 110-A Crenshaw in Greenville," Ingram said. "During the search, officers found 16 separate plastic bags that contained marijuana. It was already bagged up and ready to be sold."
Burnett was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, which is considered a felony, and was placed in the Butler County jail until she made bail, which was set at $10,000. The only information available as to the discovery of the drug involvement of Burnett was that there was an investigation into the situation.
Ingram said that investigative efforts led to the discovery of the drugs and the arrest of Burnett.
Ingram said that the department works hard to enforce drug laws in Greenville and keep drug dealers off the streets.
"There are drugs all over the United States and there are drugs in Greenville," Ingram said. "We work hard to enforce the drug laws and arrest people who are selling drugs and get them off the streets."
No other individuals were arrested or involved in the recent drug bust.
Burnett is currently out on bail, and as of Friday, no trial date has been set.
