A Greenville man has been arrested and charged with attempted murder after allegedly shooting a woman twice at an apartment on Saturday.
Ronnie Whatley, 43, was arrested and incarcerated in the Butler County Correctional Facility, according to GPD spokesperson Lt. Anthony Barganier.
The victim was identified as 47-year-old Angela Kemp.
Officers responded to the call after receiving a report of shots being fired at the apartments on Chalet Dr., said Barganier. There, they discovered Kemp lying on the ground outside of an apartment suffering from a pair of gunshot wounds. Investigators said the victim had been shot in the head and in the stomach.
She was transported to L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The case remains under investigation by the Greenville Police Department, said Barganier.
In an unrelated case, Greenville police have arrested Terrance Marsh, 19, for a burglary that occurred at Deli-Mart on E. Commerce St., said Bargainer. Police believe Marsh stole $142.25 in cigarettes from the store.
