McKenzie School breezed to a doubleheader sweep of Class 5A Wilcox-Central High School on Thursday in McKenzie.
The Lady Tigers scored a 21-4 win in game one and capped the sweep with a 22-2 win in the finale. Both games were shortened to three innings due to the mercy rule.
Dazia womack, A.J. Sanford and Kayla Shufford each had three hits in game one. Kristen Lassister earned the win in the pitcher’s circle.
Mikeia Clemons led the Lady Tigers with three hits in game two. Abby Yeatts was credited with the win.
McKenzie dropped its season opener on Tuesday.
Highland Home topped McKenzie 10-7.
“I thought for a first game we played well enough to win but Highland Home did a great job of hitting the ball in the gaps,” McKenzie head coach Ezell Powell said.
Sanford led the Lady Tigers’ offensive charge with a 3-for-4 effort at the plate. Lassister and Ashley Ballard were both 2-for-4.
McKenzie will be back in action Tuesday when it hits the road to face in-county rival Greenville High School. First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
