City renews contract with Coca-Cola

The Greenville City Council has renewed its contract with Montgomery Coca-Cola to offer Coke products exclusively at Parks & Recreation facilities throughout the city.
As part of the contract agreement, Montgomery Coca-Cola will purchase seven scoreboard timers for city ball parks at a cost of $8,400.
The city, in turn, agreed it will sell only Coke products at recreational facilities in both vending machines and at concessions.
The contract is for 10 years.
In other business, the council:
– Amended an engineering contract for improvements to the Mac Crenshaw Memorial Airport to include a spill prevention and containment plan required by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management.
The city received federal funding to enhance the parallel taxiway at the airport with the contract awarded to Garver Engineers, LLC, in the amount of $74,402. The spill prevention plan will add $3,395 to that total.
– Approved the following expenditures: $3,530 to CWA Group for semi-annual groundwater monitoring for the old city landfill; $1,557 to APAC Midsouth, Inc. for 25.95 tons of asphalt for patching of city streets; $6,000 to surveillance solutions for a video/audio surveillance system for the police department (to be paid from drug forfeiture account); $1,289 to Lee Electric for parts and labor to install compressor in an air conditioning unit at the softball complex.
Mayor Dexter McLendon said the paving project on certain city streets is nearing completion. Striping should start within two weeks, he said.
In announcements:
– A public hearing will be held on Monday, May 24 at 5 p.m. concerning the CDBG Demolition Project Phase II.
– Law Enforcement Memorial Day will be held on May 12 at the Wendell Mitchell Conference Center at LBWCC-Greenville.
