For the last several months, the citizens of Dozier have been working to raise money to help continue providing services for local senior citizens through the Dozier Nutrition Center.
With the turn of the new fiscal year, funding for the Center was cut, and citizens set up fundraisers to help make up the deficit in the budget.
In November, the group raffled off a hand-made quilt and a chainsaw, and last month, a bingo night was held as a fundraiser.
Due to the success of that event, Jan Cook, who is helping organize the event, said another bingo night is planned for this Saturday night.
“The first one went really well and everyone had a good time,” Cook said.
All proceeds will benefit the Nutrition Center.
“It will be good old-fashioned fun with a chance to win great prizes, while helping save our Dozier Nutrition center,” Cook said.
The event is planned for Jan. 14 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Jan Cook Community Center, 7712 Main Street in Dozier.
