If it ain't broke, don't fix it…so the saying goes. Well, The Greenville Advocate 'ain't' broke, so why fix it?

I do not want to fix it. I do not want to reinvent the wheel, I just want us to make it better.

Sometimes it is the addition of fresh, new look. There are things that we add to better serve you our readers and our advertisers.

The Greenville Advocate has enjoyed over 139 years of successful community service and like everything in life, from time to time things change. If we change things, we do so to make it better.

Trying to find a happy median on what readers want takes one part soothsayer, one part magician and one part miracle.

To better serve you, I am taking this column this week to ask your opinion on what we do well, what we could do better and what you would like to see us do in the future.

Our goal is to be the best community newspaper available anywhere.

Again, I don't want to reinvent the wheel, just make it ride better.

Change can be good and it can be bad… but change is almost always noticed. We have worked extremely hard to make the Advocate better and we want your opinion.

Several of you have mentioned you wished we still ran the longer wedding recaps.

Well, I'd like to do just that.

In the coming weeks, hopefully you'll see a difference.

I was approached recently about having

quick hit news briefs.

If you noticed Wednesday, we now have an "At A Glance" that will do just that.

Do you have other ideas for the newspaper?

Well send them to me.

I'm open to suggestions and we'll take them and see what is possible.

We are this community's newspaper.

We serve at your pleasure and we want your thoughts and suggestions.

If you disagree with something that we publish or don't publish, then write a letter to the editor.

Anyone who reads us know that we publish letters regardless if they are flattering of our work or not.

That is a sign of a fair, open and honest newspaper.
