Jeremy and Cheryl Vickery rang in the New Year with a new addition to their family.

At 5:43 a.m. on Jan. 1, Ethan Hunter Vickery became the first baby of 2012 for Butler County.

Ethan, who was delivered at Baptist Medical Center-East in Montgomery, weighed 8 pounds and 5 ounces.

Jeremy said it’s a little scary being a father, but this is not his first child. He has a three-year-old as well as two step children.

“(The most memorable moment was) making it from Greenville to Montgomery in 20 minutes when her water brok,e and then watching him being born and hearing him cry for the first time,” Jeremy said. “That was pretty cool.”

As Butler County’s first baby of the New Year, Ethan will be photographed for the front page of an upcoming edition of The Greenville Advocate. His parents will also receive a gift basket with items from area businesses.
