The Schofield Reunion was Sunday July 25th at Sherling Lake in Greenville. The all-day affair gave way to a pleasant surprise of relatives that came in some 2,200 miles from as far west as Texas, as far northeast as Pennsylvania and as far south as Florida. People I have been corresponding with through e-mails for a few years now and have always enjoyed the mail I have received were now right in front of me and we hugged and talked just like we have known each other forever. I actually didn’t get to go to the reunion on Sunday. I went to the motel where some of the out-of-towners were staying and just had a wonderful visit on the Saturday evening before the reunion.

On Saturday some of the relatives spent the day touring the cemeteries and looking the countryside over of where relatives once lived years ago. Some of the were going to leave Sunday right after the reunion was over and some were going to leave Monday after a good night’s sleep. Now when I receive my e-mails I have faces to go with them.

Ruby Schofield of Luverne, Jack and Gwinn Holt, Ann Stubbs and grandchildren, and Francis Schofield of Texas, Charles and Debra Skinner of Robertsdale, and Albert and

Marie Skinner of New Brockton, to name just a few of the reunioners.

Lomax Morgan celebrated his birthday July 21st in Mont-gomery, with his family. His son Charles had to go to the eye doctor the same day and received a new eye implant.

Charles says he sees much better now and Lomax had a good time with the family.

A baptism took place Sunday July 25th at 2 p.m. at the River View Baptist Church on Highway 231 in Troy. Three young ladies were baptized. One of them was my daughter, Elizabeth Holland Norton. Rev. Frank Johnson of Mt Moriah Baptist Church performed the ceremony.

Dozier Freewill Baptist is planning a revival starting August 19th through the 21st. They have also announced that they will be having a singing Aug. 28th starting at 6 p.m. with the supper and the singing will start at 7 p.m. The Williamson family and friends from Crestview Fla. will be the guest group. Everyone is welcome.

Please pray for Brother Rockey Pearce and his family. Brother Rockey’s dad, who lived in Altanta, Ga. passed away July 15th and Brother Rockey’s cousin passed away that weekend.

Please pray for Linda Beck Hodge and her family. Her dad passed away Saturday morning July 24th.

Please pray for Samantha Manning and her mom Pat. Samantha has been having a time with her blood pleasure.

Please pray for Kandi Gooden. She was in a car accident recently and is still having tests done from it. We want to pray that everything heals well and they find only good information about the tests.

Please pray for our teachers. They return to work August 4th and the students return August 9th.

The band is selling band calendars now. They are $5 and the listings are 50 cents each. It’s a good way to keep up with everyone's special date. And remember they aren’t listing what year you were born, so no one will be the wiser about how old you are.

That will still be your secret and your money will be going to a worthy cause - The Emerald Wave Marching Band. The drum major this year will be Amber Dates. Congratulations and good luck Amber.
