Church singing

A church singing will be held at Friendship Pentecostal Holiness Church at 7 p.m. Saturday, July 31. Featured artists will be J.G. Whitfield and the Workmen Quartet. The church is located on County Road 45.

Homecoming services will be held at Zion Rest A.M.E. Zion Church in Forest Home, Sunday, August 1 beginning at 9:30 a.m. with Sunday school, morning worship at 11 a.m. and homecoming services at 2 p.m. The guest preacher will be the Rev. Anthony Hall of Birmingham.

Sardis Baptist Church will hold homecoming services Aug. 1 beginning with Sunday school at 9 a.m. and services at 11 a.m.

Antioch East Baptist Church will have homecoming services Aug. 1 at 10:45 a.m. followed by a dinner on the grounds. Revival services will be held at 6:30 p.m. and Monday through Wednesday at 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. Ted Smith, pastor of First Baptist Church of Gurley will be the speaker. Danny Williams will lead the worship and praise services.

McKenzie PTA will have its first meeting on Monday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. in the school auditorium.

The Greenville Planning Commission will meet at 5 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 in the Council chambers at Greenville City Hall..

BOE Work Session

The Butler County Board of Education will hold a work session on Monday, Aug. 2, 2004 at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at the Butler County Board of Education Central Office located at 215 Administrative Drive in Greenville. The public is invited to attend.

Revival

Pleasant Hill West Baptist Church will hold revival services Aug. 2 through 4 at 7 p.m. Monday night will feature Bro. Larry Gaston with music by the Brooks Baptist Church Choir. Tuesday will feature Bro. Terry Heartsill with music by Jerry and Marie Brazwell. Wednesday night will have Bro. John Knight with Don Faulk of Monroeville singing.

Parent orientation

R. L. Austin Elementary School will hold Parent Orientation Thursday, Aug. 5, for the 2004 – 05 school year at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s cafeteria. All parents of first time students and returning students are invited to attend.

Republican Executive Committee

The Butler County Republican Executive Committee will host its 2004 Pre-Election Meeting on Thursday, August 5 at 6:00 p.m. at Republican Headquarters located to the rear of Bates House of Turkey at Fort Dale Road and I-65.

Greenville Elementary School welcomes all parents to attend an Open House

from 3 to 5 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2004.

Immediately following the Open House there will be a STP meeting in the lunchroom at 5:30 p.m.

The F.I.W. Volunteer Fire Department will hold a yard sale beginning at 8 a.m. tunil on Saturday, Aug.7 on Highway 106E from Georgiana.

Homecoming

Midway Baptist Church in Midway will celebrate homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 8 with morning worship service. Lunch will follow.

There will be on evening services.

Revival services will be at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9-13

with the Rev. Larry Gaston delivering the message.

Special music will be presented each night

and Friday night will be youth night

with a youth choir from Fort Deposit performing.

Forest Home Baptist Church will hold Homecoming and Revival beginning on Sunday, Aug. 8 at 11 a.m. with a covered dish lunch to follow.

Revival services run Aug. 9-11 at 6:45 p.m. each night. The Rev. Randy Harvill wil preach and Steve Hines will lead the congregation in music.

Providence United Methodist Church wil celebrate Homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 8.

Services begin at 11 a.m.

with lunch following in the fellowship hall.

Revival services begin at 7 p.m. that Sunday evening and runs through Wednesday with the Rev. J. W. Land and the Rev. Alvin Blackburn speaking. Special music planned for each night.

City Council

The Greenville City Council will meet at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 9, 2004 in the Council chambers at Greenville City Hall.

County Commission

The Butler County Commission will meet at 10 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 9 in the Butler County Courthouse Annex.

Greenville Middle School will host an Open House for parents, students and faculty from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 12 for grades 5,6, 7 and 8.

Women of Faith

Sweet Home Baptist Church in McKenzie will host a ladies get-together based on the Women of Faith Ministry, featuring Linda Blackburn as the keynote speaker. This event will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 13.

Roberts-Brittingham Reunion

The Roberts-Brittingham Family Reunion will be held on Saturday, Aug. 14 in Room 1 at the Greenville YMCA in Beeland Park. Bring a covered dish and come prepared to help with a family recipe collection. For more information call 335-5192.

Gospel music night

Reid State Technical College will host a gospel music night Saturday, Aug. 14, at 6 p.m. Featured artists will be the Good News Quartet, Dyess Family and Robert Williamson.

Homecoming

Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Georgiana will celebrate its 116th homecoming on Sunday, Aug. 15. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m. Dr. Henry Lyon III, retired from the State Board of Missions, will bring the message. Lunch will follow in the fellowship hall. There will be no Sunday school or evening services.

Political Forum

The Greenville Advocate will hold a political forum for the Greenville municipal candidates at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16 at the Greenville High School auditorium.

Candidates interested in participating should call Jay Thomas at 383-9302, ext 136 to register.

There is no cost to the candidates.

Child Care applications

The child care program at Greenville High School in the Career Tech Department is accepting applicants for the 2004-05 year. Three and four-year-olds are welcomed. Academics, play and social skills are stressed as children are taught lessons based on a different theme each week. Two meals and a snack are provided each day.
