This week, football fans got a glimpse of fall with unseasonably cool temperatures.
That could only mean one thing; football season is nearing.
The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the Greenville Kiwanis Club, will host the annual Coaches Corner at noon on Aug. 24 at the YMCA.
&uot;We started this seven or eight years ago and it’s just something that people like to come
and hear so they can get a first-hand look at this years teams,&uot; Chamber Executive Director Carol Lee said. &uot;We’ve always had a really big turnout. The coaches usually have about five minutes each and then we open up the floor for questions.&uot;
The event will give local high school football fans the opportunity to gain insight as to what’s in store this season throughout Butler County.
Greenville High School Head Coach Alvin Briggs, Fort Dale Academy Head Coach James &uot;Speed&uot; Sampley, Georgiana Head Coach Keith York and McKenzie first-year Head Coach David Kirkland will be on hand during the event. Each coach will give a run down on how practices have been going and their expectations of the upcoming season. The coaches will also be available to answer questions from members of the audience.
The cost to attend the luncheon is $7 per person.
For more information, call the Chamber at 382-3251. Please make your reservation before Aug. 20.
