The Georgiana Panthers traveled to Southern Choctaw High School Friday night, coming off a major win over Bayside Academy, but another win wasn't in the cards.

The 1-1 Panthers got behind early in Class 2A Region 1 action Friday night and just never seemed to be able to catch back up with the Indians.

Southern's Cedrick Foster drew first blood with 5:31 remaining in the first quarter with a 1-yard scamper.

Brigham Young, yes that was Brigham Young, was successful with the point after touchdown and the Indians were up 7-0.

Foster continued with his little one-yard scampers with 1:23 remaining in the first.

The PAT failed and the score stood at 13-0 at the end of the first period.

Just into the second quarter, Foster made another little 1-yard scamper in with 11:27 left in the half.

Again the PAT failed and the score stood at 19-0.

Georgiana came to life with 9:33 left in the second quarter when junior Zane McMeans made a 63-yard run towards daylight to bring the score to 19-6.

Senior David Campbell made the PAT and the score stood at 19-7.

Southern's Marty Foster answer back with 4:05 left in the game with a 10-yard reception from Brandon McGhee.

Young couldn't get the PAT through the uprights and the Indians rose 25-7.

Georgiana senior Stewart Crittendon showed that Georgiana was still in the hunt with a 1-yard scamper with 1:12 left in the game.

Campbell's PAT was good and score hit 25-14, and there it remained to the final whistle.

The Indian. led the night with 288 yards to the Panthers' 173 yards.

Southern had 15 first downs to Georgiana's 7 first downs.

Penalties were low with the Indians losing 40 yards on 5 penalties and Georgiana had 4 penalties for 30 yards.

Georgiana and Southern both fumbled twice and each recovered one.

McMeans led the night with 19 runs for 131 yards while Southern's Johnny Williamson had 25 runs for 116 yards.
