The Board of Trustees of Pioneer Electric Cooperative, Inc., officially announced on Monday the resignation of Steve Harmon, Executive Vice President and General Manger, effective immediately.
Harmon resigned Dec. 2.
“Mr. Harmon resigned to pursue other opportunities,” Tommy Thompson, board of trustees president, said in a press release issued by Pioneer Electric Cooperative Monday. “He has been dedicated to shaping the future of Pioneer and we are sad to see him and his family go. Not only will this be a loss to Pioneer but the community as well. He helped the co-op through a challenging period and proactively guided us through numerous decisions that significantly benefited the membership. The cooperative is exceptionally well positioned strategically. We are fortunate that during Mr. Harmon’s tenure he shaped an extremely talented executive team supported by a dedicated and member focused work force which will continue to manage all of the day-to-day operations of the co-op during interim preparations and the transition period.”
The board of trustees plan to explore a full range of options as it considers Mr. Harmon’s successor.
“The board will take as much time as necessary to find the right candidate for Pioneer and its members,” Thompson said. “We would like to thank Mr. Harmon for his dedicated service to the cooperative members, trustees and employees and we wish him the best in his future endeavors.”
