This weekend, children between the ages of 8-15 will have the opportunity to Punt, Pass and Kick their way to an Atlanta Falcon's game. The Greenville Parks and Recreation Department will once again play host to the National Football League's Punt, Pass and Kick Challenge.

"It's been here since I got the job," said Jerome Harris, Parks and Recreation Director for Greenville. It's kind of become like baseball, part of an American sport that everyone looks forward to."

The event will be held at the Greenville High Stadium located at Greenville Middle School and will start at 9:00 a.m.

There are four different age groups each for males and females.

The age groups are 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 and 14-15.

"The kids that participate here win ribbons and then they move on to the sectionals in Dothan on Oct 23," Harris said. "If they win there, they move onto the next round at halftime of the Atlanta Falcons that's where they will crown a champion."

But, the event doesn't end there.

According to the Punt, Pass and Kick website the winners of that competition will compete against 32 other winners during halftime of an NFL playoff game in January.

According to the website, the purpose of the NFL Pepsi Punt, Pass and Kick program is to create a lively and engaging forum for boys and girls to compete separately against their peers in punting, passing and placekicking skills.

"It's become a tradition," Harris said. "If you watch college football on Saturdays, they tell how some of the great players came through Punt, Pass and Kick, the kids look forward to it every year."
