What do you love about the holidays in your own hometown? One event high on most everyone’s lists is the fun and frivolity of the annual Christmas parade. And, folks, it’s not far away at all.

The City of Greenville’s Annual Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, is scheduled for 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 2. The theme for this year’s event is &uot;Hometown Holiday Celebrations&uot; and Chamber Director Carol Lee wants to see plenty of participation.

&uot;Last year, we had 60 units and we’d love to meet or exceed that number this year,&uot; Lee says. The Greenville High School Tiger Band is among those who have already signed on for the annual parade, and State Auditor Beth Killough Chapman, a native of Greenville, will serve as the Grand Marshall.

The newest &uot;Ugliest Man in Town&uot;, Roger Landsdon (courtesy of the Greenville Lions Club Radio Day), is also slated to ride in the parade.

And, of course, Santa, to the delight of young and old, will bring up the rear on one of the Greenville’s fire trucks.

Clubs, churches, scout troops, businesses and other organizations are welcome to enter floats, vehicles or walking groups in the Dec. 2 event.

Entry fees are as follows: floats – $20, vehicles – $10, and walkers – $10.

&uot;Please remember this is a nighttime parade, so lots of lights and also holiday music are encouraged to make your entry festive and eye-catching,&uot; Lee says.

Applications may be picked up at the C of C office at the Depot. &uot;We need you to reserve your spot by November 30,&uot; Lee stresses.
