Reliable Home Health is bringing a little Christmas spirit to seniors this holiday season.

Santa 4 Senior’s is an opportunity for the community to reach out to seniors and give them what they want from Santa.

“I have a tree up and what we do is go out into the patients’ home and ask the patient what things that they need most or what would the like for Santa to bring them,” social worker with Reliable Home Health Carmen Cooper-Davis said. “We limit it to three things about $20 and then we’re going to put those three things on an angel on the tree and ask the community to take an angle of our tree so they can get something from Santa.”

No names will be shared through the process. It will all be a number system that Reliable Home Health will control.

Every angel has a number on it with three things that people would need or want. The community will then take an angel, buy those three items and bring them back to the office in Georgiana.

“It’s just a way for us to do something for our seniors,” Cooper-Davis said.

Reliable Home Health sees an average of 95 patients that will ask for items that they may need and not necessarily want.

“My first client, she wanted soap, dishwashing liquid and paper towels,” Cooper-Davis said. “Those are things we take for granted that we just go to the store and pick up. Our seniors need these things and we take it for granted. If I can do that, if I can just go and get paper towels and get some dishwashing liquid and get soap for this lady, that will make her day.”

All of the items will be due by Dec. 16 so the staff has time to get it out to all of the seniors.

“Anyone that will reach in his or her pockets and give. Just give a little this Christmas to just put a smile on our senior’s face. I’m just asking for a little bit for these seniors.”
