Hyundai Power Transformers USA celebrated the grand opening of its Montgomery manufacturing facility Friday, Nov. 18.
The $108 million plant, located at Interstate Industrial Park near Hope Hull, will manufacture power transformers for utility companies and other firms.
The nearly 260,000-square foot plant, already has about 100 employees and plans to add another 400.
The company employs a number of Butler County residents, said Public Relations Specialist Meghan Branum, herself a Greenville native.
Greenville joined Montgomery and other surrounding municipalities offering incentives to attract Hyundai to the area.
Greenville’s pledge was for $333,000 over three years.
“We sure want to be part of the Hyundai family because they’ve done a lot for Greenville and for Butler County,” said Greenville Mayor Dexter McLendon.
