Rotary Club cancels Christmas tree sale

For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Rotary Club of Greenville will not hold its annual Rotary Christmas Tree Sale.
The sale had served as one of the club’s primary fundraisers. The monies collected from the sale were used to support the Boy and Girl Scouts, Safe Harbor, the Greenville-Butler County Public Library and Camp ASCCA (Alabama’s Special Camp for Children and Adults). The funds are also used to provide a dictionary to every third grade student in Butler County.
“The cost (for the trees) just got out of hand, and we saw less interest from folks in the community,” said Dr. Jim Krudop, club president. “We really enjoyed doing it, and enjoyed helping folks get their trees, but we decided that it was probably time to end the program.”
