Best wishes to the Class of 2005

Within the next two weeks, we will hold graduation ceremonies for our area high schools. We want to take this opportunity to offer our own congratulations to those earning their diplomas after 12 years of hard work and perseverance.
So much has changed in your world since you began school 12 years ago. Our nation has changed leaders and we have also faced the most horrible attacks in our history. That was a day of sadness.
But this is your time to shine and we want you to all enjoy the moment. We would also like to offer you some words of wisdom of those who gone on before you.
First, remember the friendships you had in your high-school years. These are the ones that will go on through life with you. You will quickly realize how you may no longer connect like you once did, but always remember to care about each other.
Remember that kindness is repaid in kindness. Don't forget those who have less than you. Remember that you need to show grace, but that you should also be gracious.
We would encourage you to spread your wings and soar freely as you move to the next part of your lives. But with your newfound wings, always remember that you have mighty deep roots here in Crenshaw County.
Remember that any mess you make, you are now responsible for fixing it. In the eyes of society you are a young adult. Act like one.
Remember that forgiveness is the hardest thing to do, but the easiest lesson to learn in life.
No matter how old, ice cream does heal all wounds.
Live life to the fullest. Learn new things, try new highways. Work hard too. And don't just watch the world go by, rather get out there and be a part of it and know that you can go home again.
Congratulations Class of 2005! Now fly free!
