The annual Main Street Summer Supper is just a little over two weeks away, and organizers are planning a true &uot;southern-style&uot; experience for the June 16 event. The event will kick off at 6:30 p.m. that Thursday.
Mother Nature allowing, the supper will be held on the beautifully landscaped back lawn of the Martin House on Commerce St.
(In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved to the Butler County Fairgrounds.)
&uot;We will offer our guests a true southern spread that evening – lots of good fried foods, turnips and cornbread, macaroni and cheese, sweet tea – there will be something for everyone to enjoy,&uot; says Nancy Idland, director of Greenville Main Street.
In addition to the delicious supper, several local individuals will be honored that evening, says Idland.
&uot;We will announce our Main Street Volunteer of the Year that night and also present our ‘Great Greenville’ Main Street Award to the business, organization or individual who has made an outstanding effort to preserve our historic architecture,&uot; says Idland.
&uot;Anyone who is interested in attending this year’s supper simply needs to give me a call at 382-3041,&uot; said Idland.
