Youth certainly won out in the end as well as a higher handicap for the teenage foursome of Tommy Ryan Jr., Ben Norman, Paul Norman and Mason Bass to capture first place in the annual CenturyTel Pro-Law-Am Wednesday at Cambrian Ridge Golf Course.

The teenage foursome tied with the foursome of Dennis Palmer, Bobby Rogers, Steve Norman and Josh McLendon at 18-under par, but the younger group won out because of a higher total handicap.

The real winner of the tournament for the last few years has been the Butler County Children's Advocacy Center. CenturyTel, which has been the title sponsor for the last two years, made a $5,000 donation to the center before the tournament began.

"Even if that helps just one child, it's worth it," said Jeff Adams, who is an area supervisor for CenturyTel.

And since CenturyTel has become the title sponsor for the tournament, the scope of the tournament has increased each year.

Adams estimated that about 136 golfers participated.

The team of Jay Rice, Ralph Stacy, Doug Amos and Kenneth Hill finished third, while the four-man team of Mac Russell, Bill Lewis, A.L. LeCoq and George Till finished fourth.

The law enforcement team of Cody Wesley, Lionel Rainey, Lonzo Ingram and Sam Roberts took first place over the foursome of Chuck Bitel, David Anderson, Michael Smith and Gary Morrison.

The team of John Shoemaker, Jim Roberts and Chuck Wright finished third.
