Bookers mark their 50th year of happy, wedded bliss

Douglas and Bonnie (Newton) Booker will be celebrating 50 years of wedded bliss on August 23, 2005. Douglas, a native of McKenzie, and Bonnie, who hails from Georgiana, were married in August 1955 in Lucedale, Miss. Douglas’s brother Melvin and his sister-in-law Mae served as the couple’s attendants.
The Bookers made their first home together in Fairbanks, Alaska, where Douglas was stationed with the UA Air Force.
Douglas and Bonnie are the parents of two children: Jeff, who lives in Derby, Kansas and Sharon, who resides in Everett, Washington. They are also the proud grandparents of three boys: Justin, Jordan and Josh.
Douglas retired from the USAF after 21 years. He went on to work at Raytheon Aircraft in Wichita, Kansas, spending 27 years there before his second retirement.
The Bookers currently make their home in Derby, Kansas.
