The Luverne City Council officially set a time for this year’s Trick or Treat in Luverne at Monday’s meeting.
Trick or Treat will take place on Oct. 31 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
“We ask everyone to turn on their porch lights if they are participating,” said mayor Joe Rex Sport.
In other business, the council also voted to support the town of Glenwood with a resolution asking that the speed limit on the Luverne-Glenwood Highway be raised from 45 to 55 miles per hour.
Sport said he had been asked to consider the proposition by Glenwood mayor Dan Jackson, and he brought it to the council.
However, city engineer Morris Tate said he didn’t know how effect such a request would be, since speed limit changes must be approved by the state.
“Those roads are designed for a certain speed limit when they are built,” he said.
The council also received a short update on the Public Library, which saw 37,184 items go into circulation last year.
That number is more than 3,000 items higher than the previous year.
Some 2,166 children also participated in programs at the library.
