FDA looking for back-to-back wins

Fort Dale Academy will attempt to win back-to-back games for the first time this season when it hits the road to take on Clarke Prep Friday night.
The Eagles (4-3, 3-2 Class AAA, Region 1) clinched a berth in the postseason last week when they defeated Pike Liberal Arts School 36-22 in a matchup that featured Class AAA’s two previous state champions.
Fort Dale quarterback Chip Taylor was 9-for-18 for 245 yards and wide receiver Ryan Salter grabbed six catches for 145 yards to power the Eagles’ offense, while linebacker Chase Whiddon tallied a team-high 17 tackles and linebacker Mason Stinson recorded 12 tackles and two fumble recoveries to lead the Eagle defense.
Clarke Prep (5-2) enters Friday’s contest coming off a 48-20 win over Wilcox Academy.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Grove Hill.
Greenville vs.Selma
Greenville High School will try to take another step toward a perfect region campaign Friday when it hosts Selma High School.
The Tigers enter the contest riding the momentum of a 30-14 victory against Class 5A, Region 3 power Demopolis in a game that earned the Tigers the region crown in their first year under head coach Earnest Hill.
Senior running back Jamall Hamilton, who scored on runs of 6 and 84 yards and set up two more scores with long returns in the kicking game, helped power the Tigers to win.
Junior quarterback Kent Riley also added a pair of touchdowns in the win, which was the sixth in a row for Greenville (6-1, 5-0 Class 5A, Region 3).
Selma enters Friday’s game on a much different note.
The Saints (3-4, 2-3 Class 5A, Region 3) have lost three games in a row, including a 28-25 decision to Brookwood High School last week.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium.
Georgiana vs.Kinston
Georgiana is looking to snap a five game skid that includes a 33-14 loss to Pleasant Home last week.
The Panthers (1-6, 1-4 Class 1A, Region 2) will look to do so against Kinston High School.
The Bulldogs (1-6, 1-3 Class 1A, Region 2) earned their first win of the season last week when they edged McKenzie School 38-36 in overtime.
Georgiana quarterback Jacquez Payton tossed a pair of touchdowns in the Panthers’ showdown with Pleasant Home. Rickey Everett Jay Williams each had a touchdown reception in the loss.
The Panthers will host the Bulldogs Thursday at 7 p.m.
McKenzie vs. Florala
McKenzie School is looking to rebound from a heartbreaking 38-36, overtime loss to Kinston High School.
The Tigers (4-2, 2-2 Class 1A, Region 2) will look to do so when they host Florala High School.
The Wildcats enter Thursday night’s contest in search of their first win of the season.
Florala dropped a 41-19 decision to Geneva County last week.
