Gore, ghosts and goblins make up about 15 rooms inside and out the 8th annual Haunted Firehouse.

The Haunted Firehouse is a fundraiser put on by the Greenville Fire Department for various organizations and projects including, Muscular Dystrophy Association and families in need who may have been burned out of their houses.

“We came up with the idea about eight years ago and have had fun doing it ever since,” volunteer fireman John Haire said. “It’s something fun for the kids in the community and it’s something we’re going to keep doing as long as we can.”

Haire recommended that the haunted house be for children 13 years old and up.

“There is some gore to it this year that’s not suitable for little kids,” Haire said. “They can come but it’s strictly parents approval, because they’re the ones who are going to have to sleep with them.”

On Oct. 15 and 29, there will be a tour for kids which will be lights on and no monsters.

“That is for any child I’d say 14 and under that can come at an admission of $2,” Haire said. “They can bring flashlights and go through the house. The parents can go in for free on those two days.”

Regular admission is $6 at tickets can be purchased at the house. If there is a large group, people can call ahead to make arrangements.

The house will be open every weekend in October and Nov. 4 and 5. On the weekend of Halloween, the house will be open Friday – Monday. The hours of operation are 7-11 p.m.

“It’s good clean fun for kids and adults,” Haire said. “We’ve had a really good turn out and good support from the community as well as the other communities.”
