Tonight's the night for family, food, fun and fireworks at Greenville High School's Tiger Stadium.

&#8220Celebrate America” returns to the city as an early kick-off for the Fourth of July holiday. The Greenville Area Chamber of Commerce, along with the City of Greenville and local businesses and individuals are sponsoring the family-friendly event.

The celebration kicks off at 6 p.m. in the stadium parking lot. A fireworks show is slated for 9 p.m. with plenty of seating provided inside the stadium.

Attendees are also invited to bring their lawn chairs and hand fans and &#8220sit a spell” as they watch all the fun and games, including the ever-popular dunking booth.

Carnival games, relay races and contests are all planned for the evening.

Area musicians, the Kandu Band, will return to the event to provide tuneful entertainment.

If you're hungry or thirsty, there will be plenty of &#8220good stuff” to enjoy at tonight's event, said Carol Lee, director of the GACOC.

&#8220The GHS Band Boosters will have their wonderful roasted corn that everyone enjoyed so much last year, along with some other great food. The YMCA will offer shaved ice treats to help folks cool down, too,” Lee said.

Ramona Martin of Greenville, who attended last year's event with grandson De, said she is truly looking forward to another Celebrate America.

&#8220We had such a good time last year. We had a ball with the hula hoop contest. The food was great, and the fireworks were wonderful. It was one of those perfect small town evenings,” Martin said.

Lee encourages everyone to come out and enjoy the music, games and the fireworks finale.
