The McKenzie Tigers season of ups and downs continues.

Marquez Maddox rushed for 214 yards on just eight carries and scored three touchdowns as Goshen walked away with a 38-0 win over McKenzie on Friday night.

McKenzie falls to 2-3, while Goshen improves to 3-2.

The loss spoiled the Tigers' homecoming.

Goshen led 26-0 at halftime on the strength of two touchdown runs by Maddox and a pair of scoring passes from quarterback Tyreese Wingard to receiver Derrick Owens.

The Tigers best drive of the night was its first. Running back Calvin Henderson broke off a 30 yard run on McKenzie's first series of the game to the Eagles' 32-yard line.

But penalties halted the drive and the Tigers turned the ball over on downs.

The Goshen offense wasted little time.

Maddox exploded for a 41-yard run on third and seven. The Eagles' tailback carried the ball to the McKenzie 16-yard line, which set up a touchdown pass from Wingard to Owens. With 3:42 left in the first quarter, Goshen led 6-0.

Maddox added another touchdown with 46 seconds remaining in the first, this time from three yards out.

McKenzie's offense was unable to muster any first downs in the second quarter. Henderson and fellow running back Elrick Ball was consistently met head on by the Goshen defense, while quarterback Sattrick Rudolph found little running room as well.

Following a punt, Maddox took the handoff from Wingard on a draw play and raced 42 yards down the right sideline for another score. His run gave Goshen an 18-0 advantage.

Wingard's mobility led to Goshen's final touchdown before halftime.

At the Tigers' 14-yard line with 21 seconds remaining, the sophomore quarterback rolled to his left and started up the field before pulling up to toss a touchdown pass to a wide-open Owens in the endzone.

Maddox's first touch of the second half resulted in a score.

The junior tailback went 65 yards for a touchdown to put the Eagles up 32-0.

Steven Mitchell capped off the scoring for Goshen with a 37-yard touchdown run with 7:05 left in the game.

McKenzie hosts the top-ranked Brantley Bulldogs next Friday night. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.

The Bulldog defense has only allowed 16 points during the first five games of the season
