Now that the homecoming dust has settled, Greenville, who was seemingly the most distracted team by homecoming festivities, emerged as the only victorious County school Friday.

The Tigers had seven starters held out for the game's opening drive and it was obvious as Monroe County drove the length of the field for their only touchdown.

McKenzie and Georgiana were embarassed, one by a larger school and one by a smaller one, while Fort Dale dead-ended Taylor Road with 528 total yards of offense.

No. 6 Fort Dale @ No. 9 Glenwood

Although it's been three weeks since the Fort Dale Eagles squared off with a ranked team, the trend will end Friday as Fort Dale travels to take on the Glenwood Gators, the Eagles' fifth Top 10 opponent of the season.

The Eagles have cruised to victory the last two weeks,

allowing a lot of players to get playing time.

That will be crucial Friday night and if quarterback Ty Newton can stay calm under fire, the Eagles will be 6-1…

Fort Dale 28, Glenwood 22.

McKenzie vs. No. 1 Brantley

The McKenzie Tigers have eclipsed their win total from the last three seasons already this year, but the Tigers have put up goose eggs following each of their two wins.

Miles Brown's Tigers were shut down at Pleasant Home following the win at Kinston and were also decimated by Class 2A Goshen Friday night.

Although the Tigers responded with a win following the Pleasant Home loss, this week's opponent, Brantley, is as good as they come.

This one will take a miracle…

Georgiana vs. Red Level

The saga of the up-and-down Georgiana Panthers continues Friday as region play gets back underway with Red Level coming to Harmon Field.

The Panthers were pummelled by Class 5A Greenville in Week 1, regrouped for the win at Bayside, shocked No. 1 Southern Choctaw, fell short of No. 1 Leroy and then flopped against Class 1A A.L. Johnson.

This week, your guess is as good as mine…

Greenville vs. No. 7 Valley

What started off looking really bad turned out just fine for the Tigers Friday as Greenville, for the first time in a long time, dominated an opponent.

The Tigers continue to improve offensively and defensively and that's a good thing considering the ranked Valley Rams are coming to town.

The Rams are deep and talented and the Greenville defense must continue to dominate for the Tigers to have a chance…
