The Greenville High basketball teams took 2-of-3 games from visiting Dallas County Friday night as the Tigers finally opened up the 2006-07 home schedule.

The junior varsity Tigers got things going in the night's first game and improved to 1-1 on the season with a 63-56 win over the visiting Hornets.

After falling behind by three at the half, the Tigers regrouped to take a four-point lead into the final period and held on for the seven-point win.

Nicholas McHenry was the Tigers' leading scorer with 19 points, followed by Mikwese Claybourne with 17 points.

Brently Hill also had eight points while Marcus Mickles and Gaffney each had six in the win.

For Dallas County, Corey Shaw was the leading scorer with 20 points, followed by Patrick Gunn with 14 points.

Trenton Callen had nine points and Frank Crews had six in the loss.

Girls

Greenville 54, Dallas County 42

The Greenville Lady Tigers improved to 2-0 on the season Friday night with a 54-42 win over the visiting Dallas County Hornets.

The Lady Tigers took control early in the game, opening a seven-point halftime lead, and never looked back.

Alexis Salter had a huge game for the Tigers as the leading scorer with 20 points.

Nicole Norton and Lakeeta Bonner each had seven points while Rachel Williams had six points in the win.

For Dallas County, Bianica Heard was the leading scorer with 13 points while Kim Ross nailed four three-pointers for 12 points. Spears also had 11 points for the Hornets in the loss.

Varsity

Dallas County 64, Greenville 44

After keeping the score close in a sloppy first period, the Dallas County Hornets opened a 12-point halftime lead and cruised to victory over the Greenville Tigers, 64-44.

Andres Gentry was the leading scorer for the Tigers with 10 points while junior Edward Searight was close behind with eight.

Darrel Carter and Casey Weston each had six points.

Fort Dallas County, Josh Spears was the game's leading scorer with 17 points. Thomas King had 10 points while Felix Baker had nine and Andrew Maha scored six in the win.
