The Pike Liberal Arts Patriots defeated the Crenshaw Christian Cougars 28-21 in Friday night’s jamboree.
CCA head coach Roland Jones said that he saw a lot of positives, but also some things that need improvement.
“We’ve still got a lot of work to do,” he said. “This was a good testing tool for us.”
The Cougars’ junior varsity squad played the second and fourth quarters, and among the highlights of the game for CCA were an 80-yard touchdown run by Chris Wooten and a 40-yard touchdown pass from Gunnar McCollough to Austin Brown.
“Our offense did some good things, but we missed a lot of tackles on defense,” Jones said.
The Cougars return to action next Thursday night with a trip to South Montgomery County Academy.
