The Greenville Dixie Youth All-Stars’ hopes of claiming a state championship and a bid to the Dixie Youth Majors World Series are still alive.
After staking claim to a 4-3 lead in its opener with Headland on Saturday, Greenville surrendered four runs in the seventh inning en route to a 7-4 loss that dropped the squad into the losers’ bracket of the double elimination tournament.
Greenville bounced back with a 9-6 win against tournament-host Opelika on Sunday setting up a showdown with Benjamin Barnes YMCA today at 6 p.m. at Opelika’s West Ridge Park.
