LBWCC’s Greenville Campus sees 29.7% student enrollment increase Lurleen B. Wallace Community College Fall Semester student enrollment on the Greenville Campus has increased 29.7 percent over the fall semester numbers of 2007.

“I am pleased but not surprised at this record enrollment,” said LBWCC Interim President L. Wayne Bennett. “This is what we planned for, worked for and expected. Although this increase in enrollment is attributable to many factors, I must give considerable credit to our Director of Recruitment, Heather Owen, and to our talented and dedicated Student Services professionals who work very hard every day to make our programs accessible and affordable for thousands of students each year. “

According to LBWCC Greenville Campus Director, Dr. Jim Krudop, “There are no secret ingredients – just community support, great facilities, and new programs – along with an atmosphere of excitement.”

Krudop attributes the excitement to many things such as the momentum of growth in the city of Greenville, Butler County, and at LBWCC.

“We’ve witnessed it and LBWCC is right in the middle of it. We are thrilled to partner with the Butler County Commission for Economic Development and have them located on our campus,” he said. “This partnership allows us to take part in the addition of business, jobs, and the focus of growth in this fast-growing area.”

The college also has established relationships with and has support from Mike Looney, Butler County School Superintendent, and David Brantley, Headmaster of Fort Dale Academy, said Peggy Linton, Dean of Instruction. Both the public school system and Fort Dale co-sponsor dual enrollment scholarships.

“The dual enrollment/dual credit program enrolls more students each year. We now have a total of 258 high school students enrolled in LBWCC dual enrollment classes,” said Linton.

Additionally, the new LBWCC facilities have allowed the Greenville campus to grow and expand.

“We were bursting at the seams and needed the space provided by our new facilities,” said Krudop. “This is the first fall we have been in the new Technology Center. Students are getting a better idea of what we have to offer and the learning environment we have.”

The LBWCC system has received the support of city officials and individuals in the area and is excitedly looking forward to the completion of the Wendell Mitchell Conference Center next year.

To date LBWCC has received over $468,000 dollars from the community to help make the new facilities a reality.

Linton stated: “LBWCC has experienced continued growth in the Associate in Arts and Associate in Science transfer programs as well as in career programs. A total of 74 students enrolled in the nursing programs with 34 in Associate Degree Nursing and 40 in Practical Nursing.”

The Paramedic to RN Mobility Nursing Program was started on the Greenville Campus spring, 2008 and beginning spring, 2009 the LPN Program will be added.
