Tigers fight for third spot in region

Last week’s loss to Demopolis sent the Greenville Tigers on the road for the first round of the playoffs, and this week’s game will decide where they travel.
The Tigers will be hosting Chilton County.
A win would put Greenville up against Briarwood in the first round, while a loss would pit them against Shelby County.
Chilton County started the season slowly with five straight losses, but they’ve won their last three games in a row.
“They’re a young team, but they’re gaining confidence,” said head coach Ben Blackmon. “We’ve got to win this game to finish third in the region.”
The Tigers will have to work on overcoming last week’s loss to Demopolis, during which Greenville let a sizeable lead slip away in the second half.
“The kids fought hard Friday night,” Blackmon said. “We’ve just got to look at it, learn from it and move on.”
Blackmon said the team is also trying to learn from previous losses, especially since two of the three losses have been by a touchdown or less.
“We’re working on analyzing our losses and seeing why we’re losing close games,” he said.
Kickoff against Chilton County is set for 7 p.m. Friday night at Tiger Stadium.
