With a long weekend on the horizon, several Crenshaw County communities are preparing to honor America with fun and festivities.
The City of Luverne’s fireworks display will be held on Saturday, July 2 at 8:30 p.m.
This year’s display will be held at the Industrial Park due to the requirement that there be 600 feet of clearance around the shooting area.
“We’ve got everything set up to have a nice display,” said mayor Joe Rex Sport.
Sport advised people to bring lawn chairs because there is no seating at the industrial park.
“Bring lawn chairs and arrive early,” he said.
In case of rain, the show will be rescheduled for July 4.
The Camp Ground community will be having the Seventh Annual Fourth of July Parade on Saturday morning, July 2.
Participants will meet at the church at 8:30 a.m., and the parade will begin at 9 a.m. It will travel down Camp Ground Church Road to Highway 29 and back. There will be a fellowship afterward.
The town of Rutledge will also be holding an Independence Day Parade on Saturday morning.
The parade starts at 9 a.m., and refreshments will be served at town hall afterwards.
The town of Petrey will be hosting an annual fireworks display at 9 p.m. on July 4 at the community center.
Prior to the show, there will be live music, activities and fellowship at the center.
