The Greenville Tigers opened the season with a 79-70 win over Wetumpka last Friday night.
“We had a balanced attack from a young team,” said assistant coach Jerome Harris.
Several Tigers scored in double figures, as Jeremy Robinson and Mikwese Claybourne had 18 points each.
Nick McHenry had 14, Jacques Burnett contributed 12 and Brentley Hill added 10.
“We know what we need to work on, and I think we can fix everything,” Harris said. “It was a great turnout for the first game.”
The Greenville girls also came away a winner, 39-27.
“We started out slow, but the defense played pretty well throughout the game,” said head coach Ronald Bogan. “We struggled on free throws, though.”
Amber Andrews scored 13 points for the Tigers.
“She did a real good job and is beginning to step up,” Bogan said. “Overall, I was proud of how well we played.”
Greenville will have a home game on Monday against Hillcrest of Evergreen beginning at 5 p.m.
