Luverne Elementary has implemented a unique student reward system this year. The Treasure Tower is being used to reward students for a wide variety of accomplishments. Some of the behaviors rewarded are acts of kindness, exemplary behavior, improving academic achievement, consistently completing homework, lunchroom etiquette, attendance and punctuality.

Each Friday, students are allowed to come to Assistant Principal Gail Morgan’s office to tell what positive trait they exhibited to earn the token and receive praise from the her. Then students are allowed to redeem their treasure using their “SUPER STUDENT AWARD” token.

“Many times we fail to recognize responsible children,” Morgan said. “It is our desire with this program to reward students who consistently show self-control and positive traits of responsibility as well as encourage others to strive to earn a token and make these positive traits a part of their everyday life.”

Morgan also wants to thank area businesses and individuals who have made contributions to this positive student reward program. Sponsors are currently being sought to help off-set the cost of this program. Any donation can be sent to Luverne School and designated as Treasure Tower fund.
